A guided shaking practice will serve as both a dynamic body scanning and a gentle warm up. Followed by a set of movement and coordination games – often in couples – to begin unlocking movement patterns and to introduce playfulness.

We’ll practice two full Feldenkrais lessons – an awareness through movement lesson (ATM) – where movement is the tool to practice embodied awareness. Therefore you’ll move slow and with as little effort as possible. This, to enable you to listen and to really get a full sense of the way you move. The idea is to get an embodied understanding of your movement patterns, eliminating access effort and parasitic movement. All this to unlock potentials for movement that is equally free as powerful.

After each Feldenkrais lesson there will be time to integrate through dancing. We’ll alternately play with free integrative improvisations or simple scores/tasks to integrate the learning from the ATM into dancing. We’ll play with Feldenkrais based ideas concerning the quality of movement: the ability to reverse, to stop at any given moment and to change direction. All this to reveal and rewire strong and firmly rooted movement habits and to allow your possibilities to expand – with ease, simplicity, pleasure.

The workshop is open for both dancers and actors.
