During this 5 day course, actors will be introduced to the Barr & Kahn System, designed to produce results in a fast-paced industry where actors are constantly given little time to prepare. Participants will gain tools to elevate their performance through creativity and specificity. The system incorporates elements from the teachings of Skoric, Vasiliev, Barr, Stanislavski, Meisner, Adler, Kahn, Rodenburg and others.

The system starts with a Simple Analysis, where structure and clarity frees the imagination. It then moves on to Thoughts, exploring the insight that surprising specificity keeps the actor entertained beyond the words. The final focus is on Execution. Here we tame the instrument (if needed) before granting it free reign. This is the leap of faith. Participants will explore concentration as well as relaxation, confidence, staying present, listening to behavior or being open to surprise. All in all, the aim is to have an experience instead of controlling the performance.

Each participant will shoot two scenes – drama and comedy – from highly successful TV shows, using the elements in the system, and receive personalized coaching and analysis of their performance.
